Flying Eye Hospital “Orbis” in town for 2-week mission

orbisThe Orbis Flying Eye Hospital, a converted DC-10, arrived at NAIA and will be staying until 10 September, where its doctors will treat all kinds of Eye Diseases, such as a cornea transplant, advance cataract, viteroretinal diseases and several other eye ailments affecting children. These include congenital glaucoma, strabismus and retinopathy of prematurity. 

The program also includes the exchange of skills for local doctors that are not limited to Ophthalmologists but also include continuing medical education designed for nursing, anesthesiology and biomedical engineering. 

Fedex, along with St. Luke’s Hospital, the Manila International Airport Authority, Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, Ages Aviation Center, Inc. who provided complete ground handling & support for this aircraft, and several other organizations have been the leading sponsor of Orbis.
