US Pacific Fleet commander joins surveillance mission in West PH Sea

The new commander of the US Pacific Fleet, Admiral Scott Swift, joined a surveillance mission over the West Philippine Sea on Saturday as part of his four-day visit to the Philippines.

Swift arrived in the country Thursday, July 16, for a four-day official visit and to engage with the country’s senior military leaders.

On Friday, he was accorded full military honors at the AFP General Headquarters (GHQ) in Camp Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo, where he also made customary office call on newly-installed AFP chief of staff, Lt. Gen. Hernando DCA Iriberri.

During his visit Ages provided full ground handling service to his aircraft a C-37 militarized Gulfstream IV.

Admiral Swift was welcomed at the prestigious Balagabag “AGES” Ramp by Commodore. Crispin P. Mercado who with his subordinates took the opportunity while waiting on Admiral’s arrival to relax and engage in friendly conversation with US Embassy Officials over coffee at the Ages lounge the only VIP lounge in the middle of the airport and a stone throw away from the aircraft’s parking spot.
